Back At It!

So remember when I wrote that post about body image? (you can refer back to it here). And that I mentioned that I would start working out when I felt I was ready? Well, 30 days ago (a little over that actually, I started thinking that I was ready. But I said I wanted to do some sort of program that would keep me going for a while. Because I figured, what the heck, if I’m going to get back into a fitness routine, I might as well jump right in! What did I have to lose?!

So, I did some research, talked to a few people and found something to get me going. I found a free 30 day challenge. I thought, working out every day, why not?  Only for 15 minutes?! Really? Could that be true?  A video sent to my email with what to do? I can totally do that.   So after going back and forth a few times, I just finally signed myself up for it.

The next day I started Day 1 of the workouts. Yikes! I came home from work, did some things with the kids, got them into bed and then got myself ready for a workout.  I put on the video that was sent to me and started up! Man, was it tough for me! It was basically a 15 minute HIIT workout (which I really dislike), but it was also over before I knew it. But I was dripping with sweat! (sorry for the info there). So I had to take a shower before bed. And then I was up late because the workout woke me up. Soo, after a couple days of workout out at night, I said I needed to switch this up. I couldn’t work out in the evenings. It just wasn’t working for me, especially since all I wanted to do was sit down and relax. So because the videos came to my email at a certain time, I had to skip a day.

And then the switch to the mornings. I would get up at 4:00 a.m. every weekday and 5:00 a.m. on the weekends. I would get the 15 minutes work out in and then start getting ready for my day. On the weekdays, I had plenty of time to get ready and have some extra time to myself before everyone got up. That way, when we all got home after work / daycare, we could just relax and eat dinner (or snacks).

So, I am happy to say that I made it through the 30 day challenge … YAY!! It was a great commitment and I held myself accountable for every day. I had made a calendar to cross off the days after I had worked out. And I am continuing to keep a routine in place. It may not be the same program, but it’s amazing what you can find on Amazon Prime, and I’m sure On Demand. Now, I’m more of a take a class type of girl myself, so I do like to go to actual classes once in a while to switch things up, or add them in! I tend to try to go for some type of walk at some point during my day as well. And I am so itching to try to a Barre class. I’m still trying to find a local place close by that offers it, and that will offer it at certain times. What I found to be offered was during the time I would be working. BOO.  So if anyone reading is local to me and knows of a place that offers Barre in my area- let me know!

In the meantime, I have picked up a workout program on Amazon Prime to keep the fitness routine in place. Have any of you started something new or started back up on something that you had been doing before?
